This is what I have and now want a very good graphics card to go with it which I would like a good few years service from. I'm thinking Gerforce but not too sure which model or make. I would prefer to stick around £250 but am willing to go to £400 if enough people think its worth it, please help me decide and also if possible could someone advise me on a decent lead to go from my Video Card to my scart TV. I am in the UK and would appreciate links but not that important.

asus a7v333 (raid+sound)
athlon xp2000+
Maxtor 740X Hard Disk 80GB UIDE133 8.5ms 7200rpm
PC2700 DDR 512mb PC333
550 Twin Fan PSU
Thermaltake smart fan
Exhaust Blower
Standard Floppy
Liteon 48x cdrw
Liteon 16x dvd
Windows XP Pro

If you need urgently, then go for a Leadtek Geforce 4 Titanium 4600 128MB DDR.

If you are buying next month go for a Radeon 9700./

If you are able to use a crap one for now and willing to wait a few months then go for the best card in nVidias new nv30 series (Geforce 5 card).

Wait a while and just get the geforce 5. Nvida always has better perfomance then ati these days.

You will be waiting till next year for geforce5 (rv30)

Cougar is right about gainward making good cards but early geforce 4's made by them have been having memory problems but that shoud be fixed now.

Wait a few weeks and get a radeon 9700 it is looking like a fantastic card

I'd get a Radeon 9700 when they arrive....shouldn't be too long now.

ATI will kick nvidia's a$$.
Have a look for your self m8...the spec's are mind blowing.

Geforce5 should come out by the end of the year. And wilt i don't think that ati will be kicking any body's "a$$." Look at the geforce5 specs. It'll be just like the geforce4 and the Radeon 8500 (geforce4 is better of course).

Wiz is right wilt. Radeon will only beat Geforce for a while, that glory won't last long ;)

Really ATI will be beaten again by Nvidia's Geforce 5 cards. The specs are surpassed a Radeon 9700. And Geforce cards just perform better and have better choices of models.

I see no point of getting a ATI Radeon right now, if you have patience you will soon get your reward :D

Go for the ati radeon 9700, its out and will get better performance with newer drivers by the time NV30 is out. Also there are talks that ati will release a newer card based on 0.13 technology to compete with NV30, so it might not be worth waiting that much. Nvidia will have to struggle to survive ATI's blow.
Also ati products provide unbeaten 2D graphics and Gr8 DVD playback.

Its for you to decide what will be your choice.
(Remember that Carmack gave full support for the 9700, so if your into doom, go for ati, otherwise if your ready to wait, well you can check out nvidia's release and see how goo it is):)

You could say that Nvidia will reign for a while then ATI stomp on there A$$.
Then Nvidia take the lead again, Then ATI stomp there a$$ once more.

Don't get me wrong Nvidia are good i had a Geforce 3 Ti.
But when your looking for best performance here and now...ATI take the crown.

Until Nvidia release the G5.
By that time ATI will have another trick up there sleeves.
