i recetly installed winXP and activated it and everytime i go to windows update, it tells me there are no updates.
I know there should be at least 6 or maybe more updates. Security updates are what i'm really worried about.
Thanks

have you tried calling in and asking what's up?
I have another computer with xp sahring the same connection that gets the updates just fine.. Security updates, language options and even driver updates...

I don't feel like reformatting that computer even though i think it would help :)

Any one know why this is happening?
Maybe a security setting in IE?

Are you using one of the *leaked* corporate XP keys?

I've found recently if I use the update wizard (shortcut on start menu) it says there are no updates. If I go via the website (http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp) it finds them.

No I actually paid $300 for my XP Pro full.
I tried to go directly to the web page but I get the same message.

It prompts you to check for updates while installing. Did you reply yes to that? If so there might not be any updates.

I guess we're all waiting for the big update, SP1 that is, to be released. I've heard it may be out on 8/28. But people with warez Coporate keys will not be able to install this update, at least according to Microsoft.

its the fckgw- corp key that they are blocking (this is already done in the Beta SP1) all it does is it blocks you from updating via the CD or updating via the website if it detects the key.
(hope that made sense since i'm half asleep)

Don't assume the one you just mentioned is the only key that will be blocked. There are keys other than the one you mentioned above will be affected. :)
