Hello,
What is the best 20x and more writing speed, external CDRW Drive with USB 2.0 Interface (Best in performance and speed, I do not care much for mobility)

currently I'm looking for a Memorex Model. wonder if there are any better ones?

thanks

plextor make a 40x external usb2.0 cdrw. Youll have to pay through the nose for it though as its not cheap. Try the plextor webpage for more info

Can I suggest buying a USB2 external box and then you can use any burner you wish? You can then easily change the burner later or use the USB2 box for something else (e.g. external HDD). May even work out cheaper than a dedicated USB2 burner.

TDK has excellent reviews, is very fast, and they have excellent tech support. I reccommend them

I found those writers,
Memorex
BenQ/Acer
Yamaha
Teac
Iomega
with speeds from 24x to 40x ...
my best choice would be either Memorex or Yamaha, but the yamaha is double the price ....

Since you don't care much about mobility, unless you have a good reason to go with USB burners such as running out of bay or IDE connection, you should go with an IDE burner. They're much cheaper than the USB version.

I am going to change my earlier reccomendation and agree with fawlty. I just sent my tdk back, and got an external box, with a lite-on 48x. As soon as it burns out, I can just replace the internal burner.

Liteon do one now also.
However something really desirable would be the Sony USB DVD writer every format machine ( DVD-R at 4X ) coming out in October / November.
