skyrider123 Aug 20, 2002, 07:13 AM I have just baught the liteon 40x12x48 and its nice and fast when i burn from an image, but when i copy on the fly its only about 2mins quicker then using my teac 12x burner(takes about 5.30) to burn 700mbs mp3s. I am using a lg 52x reader at moment on a athlon 900 with 394 mb and 80 gig h/d
I have also tried using my teac 12 burner as a reader but thats was worse then the lg.
thanks in advance

Trondos Aug 20, 2002, 08:14 AM Have a look at www.cdspeed2000.com to find a reader that can keep the pace with your burner. :)
Lazza Aug 20, 2002, 11:10 AM Those LG 52X drives are pretty awful for reading audio/mp3 OTF. The LiteOn Ltd-163 (16) would be about the best bet for this. As Trondos said, check out the speed tests at CDSpeed for more.
colin.scoble Aug 21, 2002, 12:27 PM the best reader is what i have also a liteon,as lazza said the liteon 163dvd
ebuyer are doing them for 35.57pounds inc p/p good dvd and reader.colin
www.ebuyer.co.uk just to add ebuyer for me are good and reliable.
celtic_druid Aug 21, 2002, 12:46 PM Moving this to consumer's opinion.
MrMP Aug 21, 2002, 09:25 PM Another liteon 40x12x48, after all they are only a few quid more than a reader
lhaney Aug 22, 2002, 12:16 AM Yeah, here in chicago a local computer store sells lite ons that are packaged as Cendyne burners for like $59. I'm gonna pick up another one to replace my so called 52X reader, it reads blazing fast!
hobogobo Aug 22, 2002, 02:34 PM get thelite-on dvd 163 works a treat
hobogobo Aug 22, 2002, 02:34 PM get the lite-on dvd 163 works a treat
flintstone Aug 22, 2002, 05:44 PM Must agree with hobogobo the lite-on dvd 163 , also the teac 540e is a good reader but you need firmware update & speed util to set top speed .
Topmovies2002 Aug 23, 2002, 11:47 AM Depends if you require 2 writers then go with another 40x Liteon, if not cant go wrong with the Liteon 16x Dvd!
JuNacy Aug 25, 2002, 12:35 AM I have to agree with most of the people here....Liteon 163 dvd.....I have one mated with a liteon 40x12x48x, perfect combo in my opinion...
