anybody got any opinions on the subject?
Thanks guys!!
Jaice Aug 21, 2002, 05:22 PM I got XP Pro, its more stable than Win2000, I use nero 5.5.8, maybe he should upgrade to 5.5.9.2, I never had a problem, but I wouldn't downgrad.
aaronjon Aug 22, 2002, 07:14 AM i had problems using xp pro and v5.5.5.9 , upgraded to v5.5.9 problems solved.
Trondos Aug 22, 2002, 09:56 AM I went back to 2000 because XP did not function properly with my modem. (no drivers) :(
Many people are really satisfied with XP though. I would say that if you are running 2K now and it works fine, there is no need to switch.
Unless you like all that fancy, memory hogging grapics, of course! :D
DNRC Aug 23, 2002, 07:52 AM if your hardware is up to it, then go for XP, IMHO, it is the best OS ever to come from the people at redmond.
Van Nugent Aug 24, 2002, 02:13 AM Yup, I agree XP Pro is the best OS I've ever run. Try updating ASPI and Nero will run fine. I've no problems with Nero 5590 on XP Pro.

You can change the XP graphical user interface to classic (Windows 2000) style if you don't like all the fancy graphics.
BlackOut Aug 24, 2002, 09:11 PM I've only had problems with Windows XP!
It gives me as many problems as the first edition of windows 98
But maybe it's just my computer
Van Nugent Aug 24, 2002, 09:16 PM Yup, I believe so too, m8. Read my reply post in your thread in Open forum.

where is the option to do this?
I've used XP pro for a short while a few month back and was'nt too keen on the cartoon display & little popup windows everywhere, also i remember when i installed it there was nothing at all on the desktop, internet exp, outlook,my comp, recy bin etc.whereas 98se just plants em there to begin with.
Van Nugent Aug 26, 2002, 01:54 AM Rightclick on desktop or Start menu then select Properties to change them.
paumcd Aug 26, 2002, 02:33 AM Windows 2000 seems more stable than XP. XP has a cool send error report when a program is not responding (you can change it so the programs crash properly i.e. without offering you to email an error report). i like running 2 browsers, burner, media player, 2 file share services, email amongst other crap. xp would crash one or 2 of theses a session. 2000 is too lazy to bother.
XP is a driver side nightmare. 2000 supports most everything.
Win 2k seems to be ms answer to linux's networking. XP is an answer to apple's touchy queery interface and proprietary nastiness.
You can load 2k then xp as a dual boot. Compare and contrast.
