here is my reply from ASDA head office today when I asked about the upgrade disc and if it doesn't arrive can we get a full refund:

Thank you for your e-mail.

These discs will be going to all stores in the next 2-3 weeks but I am
afraid we don't have a more specific date.

If you are unable to obtain a disc any store will be happy to give you a
refund or replacement.

I hope we can look forward to serving you again soon.

It plays SVCD out of the box - with VCD it will rock !

I bought one yesterday and it looks the part.

I cannot wait for this update disk.
