I am having trouble with some burned ps2 games I have bought. The person I bought them from said that they were tested and work.
Some of the games work fine but then others boot up and than freeze, and yet others just don't boot up. Have been using the standard gameshark swap method to get some the games to boot. I have heard that there are about six different methods to boot CD-R's, could someone please list the different methods to boot CD-Rs with the gameshark.

With the StarChip, there's only two way. But it actually sounds like a laser or meda problem with yours. I would clean the laser first, then make sure you are using Verbatim Premium Plus CDRs those are the only ones I've ever had work 100%. If you want them, the two methods are 1. just load the gameshark2, hit new game, no codes swap disk when told and hit X. The other is to hold down reset when starting, load gameshark2, hit new game, no codes, THEN let go of reset. Tray will open and you can swap games then, and either hit X (v2 GS or newer or hit O and R1 and R2 at the same time). That's it...

I have the starchip. I always get my games to boot if after I put the gs in i press reset instead of eject to take the disc in. Something about having the disc in at startup always lets the games boot but I have no idea why.
