okay
just got 4 new games in mail, xbox games
all dvdr's
ncaa 2k3
nfl 2k3
nfl fever 2003
madden 2003

i have a pioneer 104 dvdr burner

i tried using record max and prassi and have wasted 4 apple dvd-r's

i do a disc to disc copy using the pioneer as the reader and writer

the software tells me it is copying the games fine and i get NO error
i go to try them in my xbox does not work

I look at the bottom of the dvd-r and no wonder they dont work
it is like skipping the first inch or 2 of the data

u know the most inner part of the cd where the hole is, well it is not writing to that part of the cd on all of them. It's like it is starting an inch or two out and then writing. I get NO error with Prassi 2.0 or Record Max. This has worked fine in the past disc to disc, but not with these games. I have tried all of them and same thing.

Anyone seen this or have suggestions

windows XP is my OS

I have not tried creating an image first, I am nervous about wasting another apple dvd-r, that is the only media I have

What I would do is create an image, check the iso with one of the iso building tools, probably extract all the files from the iso, and rebuild it to make sure, then burn the newly built iso...

I know you can copy them because I have done it with other games

I have all my other games on apple media and they work just fine
Apple media is one of the best out there and anyway it is not a media issue

when i flip the disc over and compare it to the one i am recording from it is OBVIOUS that it is leaving out the inner part of the cd. Almost like there are 2 sessions and it is skipping the first one.

I just wasted another blank, tried copying from an image I made of Madden 2003. No luck same thing. Did not get any errors and it copied fine, but it is leaving the inner part where it first writes to the cd blank. IF that makes sense

I KNOW FOR A FACT that this is not a media issue, anyone have suggestions.

I am still waiting on the actual size

i am doing some testing right now, building a global image of the cd that I just created from the actual MADDEN 2003 that works. I am going to compare the size of the image to what it actually wrote on the disc, I am betting it is missing at least a gig of info or maybe 500 megs. I will update soon.

My burner has the most current firmware 1.20

any help appreciated

the image that I created from a known working copy of Madden 2003 I received from DEV is this size

1,976,833

the size from the disc that I just tried to create from that image by copying from that exact image is

1,930,50

This is also the same from when I try doing disc to disc, it is leaving out40-50 some odd megs. Is this normal or should it be the same exact size?

anyone

one more thing
sorry to clog the board, but I just want to provide as much info as possible

I looked at the other dvd-r that I tried to record last night of the other games as well

ncaa 2k3
nfl2k3

same thing

the dvd-r's that I created from the KNOWN working dvd-rs that I got in mail from DEV are about 50-60 megs larger than what I am creating. Which explains the gap in the inner part of dvd-r.

thanks in advance

Heh. I doubt you can copy an ORIGINAL disk as the person above said. The only way to do that is to use the Evo software & send it to your PC from the xbox.

Never do disk to disk copies, thats called on the fly & its rarely successful, as the data stream can't keep up.

But copying an original? nah, I wish.

I thought I've read somewhere that one of the security features of the xbox and the xbox disks is that the data is read from out to in, like a record, but opposite a cd?

If so, perhaps the burn is ending because there is no more information to copy....just like if you make a music cd, but it only fills half the disk, and so the outer edge of the disk is unburned. Maybe all you have to do is close the disk out completely so it etches out all that unneeded space.

Probably way off here.

Hugs,
Sturbing.
