What are the manufactoring date range of xbox's with the phillips drive?

It varies as we've seen some older units with the drive and we just did a brand new premod with the drive. Its just a luck of the draw.

Whats is so good about philips drives. I have one and it only reads my back ups after the drive has been running for a bit and is warmed up.

There was a way written to make even cd-rs boot off of this drive, but not the thompon, drive. I guess no one cares about it but me though.

They aren't necessary really since you can easily add the external dvd drive yourself. You did know that, rigth alee?
