first time posting and i'm in a bit of a fix..

my boot/system drive was wiped and i need to reinstall win95 from cd-rom. the problem is i don't have the cd-rom drive that came with the laptop, but rather an external cd-rom drive that i connect to via PCMCIA IDE PC CARD. the laptop model is IBM Thinkpad 570.

so, i've installed MSDOS and downloaded 2 drivers from ibm's website, one for pcmcia and one for cd-rom. the pcmcia driver wasn't a problem to install, but the cd-rom driver will not install and instead says "an error occurred while accessing drive C."

this is odd, because the pcmcia driver was installed on C without any problem. how come i can't install the cd-rom driver?

any ideas? i think i'm going insane. please help!

Can you tell the make/model of the external CD drive?

You'll need to download the drivers for the 1969-010 here http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/BBOD-3N5J53.html .
