If you are going straight from the Xbox to a PC then YES you need a crossover cable.
If you have a network hub or switch you can use that instead then use standard network cables to connect everything together

qwerty, your an absolute life safer (literally)
I was getting so frustrated with this stuff...and it turned out to be the wrong cable
thanks for the help ...
( i even tried the network cable that my cable modem runs on ...and still no luck ...hopefully that cable isnt a crossover one)

no, the modem cable would be a straight through cable. Crossover cables aren't all that common, but you can find them at electronic stores or make one...

i bought the crossover cablee...and it WORKS!!!
but you know what, my xbox and pc connect ....
but when i send the commands through flashfxp, it seems like its sending the commands through my cable modem ethernet card..and not my "xbox" ethernet card (i bought a separate card for it)
any ideas on configuration for this?
thanks for all of the help ..its greatly appreciated
