I am trying to share several files & folders on my computer so that the other people on my network can access them. I check the option so that other people could not change files on my computer by clicking "deny" under the permissions, but read had allow for "Everyone". But now, it keeps asking for a password to even look at the folders. is there a way to set the permissions so that it doesnt ask me for the user id or pw to gain access to view my network files?

I assume you are talking about a workgroup and not a domain. You just have to make it so the user uses the same password to log on to their workstation as you need to access your network resources.

this is a campus network, so the thing about making them all have the same password as me, as i think i interpretted it, isnt very thesible
i can access other peoples computers without putting a password, but im pretty sure its one of the options i screwed with
