I used www.easynews.com news server for a couple of days for a trial and found it quite easy, now the trial has ended i have decided to use ntl news server and xnews as my program.

I am stuck tho as it seems harder...

1. How do i search all the pages in a newsgroup?(as in easy news, when i went to a newsgroup their was about 30pages of different files ect)

2. how do i search thru pages(easynews had a search funtion)

3. how do i select my defualt download folder?

4. How do i download mutliple files?

5. If i want to download a rar file do i just highlight, go to transfer and click on download? or go to decode or something?

Thanks 4 the help provided.

It's most likely that your ISP's news server is really bad (most ISP news servers are). They don't really have high retention rates and most binaries files are incomplete. That's the reason why you can't see any files, they're incomplete.

It doesn't matter if they have the same newsgroups.
What matters is if they carry the files. They reason why you have to pay for a good news server is because they keep the files on their servers for a long time. They are dedicated to keeping the newsgroups complete.

ISP news servers on the other hand offer the service but they aren't really dedicated to it. Binaries take up a lot of space on their servers so they delete the files after maybe 1-3 days. And if you're missing just one message, the file will be incomplete. That's what we call low retention rate.

Ask anyone who gets their files off of newsgroups. 9 times out of 10, they pay a monthly fee for their news server.
