marimo Aug 27, 2002, 08:15 PM Hi. Is there any way to apply transparency to an image, so when I use it in my webpage or in other place it stays without background. Sometimes I use pictures I've downloaded and put them in my webpage, they are usually gifs. And sometimes those images have a white background, and when I put them in my webpage which has a black background, a white square appears surrounding the image. Is there any way to get rid of that ugly square without having to change my background to match the image square color? I want to be able to change background colors without having to worry about that little white square. Hmmm... I'll upload an image. (an image is worth more than 1000 words, jejeje).

marimo Aug 27, 2002, 09:06 PM Thanks for the link, but I still got the same problem, now when I apply a different background some tiny white spots remain around the image. Thanks anyway

What you need is a graphic program that supports transparent GIF's such as PhotoShop or Fireworks.
marimo Aug 28, 2002, 01:21 AM How did you do that celtic_druid? That is exactly what I want to do. I have Photoshop 7. Can you give me the steps, please?? I want to be able to do that with every picture I want to. Please. Thanks
ellal Aug 28, 2002, 01:51 AM in photoshop use 'extract' found under the filter tab. outline the image, fill and then view to see the results..the images sometimes need a bit of cleaning up, but it seems to work quite well
celtic_druid Aug 28, 2002, 02:21 AM I did it somewhat differently, but I did use Photoshop. I would suggest that you just have a play around and get to know photoshop.
jedd59 Aug 28, 2002, 05:22 AM Can you do this in coreldraw
thingy Aug 28, 2002, 04:40 PM You could always load it into Ms Paint, invert the background and then re-save
thingy Aug 28, 2002, 04:42 PM No, sorry - that doesn't work!
