you could try a little program called Cool Remote?

This program can remotely display a PC screen on your own PC IN REAL TIME and allow you to use your mouse or keyboard to work on that p.c..

It means that you can work on a remote PC from your own PC as if you are sitting in front of it! Also, you can transfer files to or from a remote PC, and shutdown, reboot, logoff or let it sleep.

So i think this will do what you want?

You can get a trial version from http://www.networkingfiles.com/RAS/coolremotecontrolpanel.htm

Well, you can use a program to remote control your desktop (I recommend Remote Administrator). But I have absolutely do idea how you would go about installing this if you haven't got a monitor.

In short, you cannot use your laptop's screen as your desktop's monitor straight out without installing some sort of software.
