Im running microsoft me, with a full installation of office 2000 premium, but yesterday it all went tits up! everytime i try to load up ms word or a word document i get an error message telling me there is an error with ms word.exe, i then click ok& another message popsup telling me that some system files may have been deleted!? & after that ms word just shuts down altogether and i cant use it!this is really annoying as i use this app everyday & ive never had neprobs b4, any1 got any ideas?Cheers in advance!:tup:

ohyeah ive d/l all the latest virus definitions & ran scandisk :)

Just reinstall Office, dont worry about all your documents, they will be okay

its by far the easiest method rather than trying to fault find.

If Word is corrupt, you may be looking at re-installing, hopefully the missing files are Word files and not Windows system files !

However, just try this. Click on Start, then Run, then Browse and find the winword.exe file (c:\program files\microsoft office etc etc). Once you've located it, double click on it and it should put you back to the run box.

Click once in the window (leaving the full file path there) and move to the end of the line so the cursor is flashing after the ". Then press the spacebar and type /regserver

This will attempt to refresh the Word registry settings etc.

Hope that makes sense, might just work !!

Cheers for the replies guys, ive un-installed & reinstalled it 3 times today and i keep getting the same error :tdown: but green_blade i will try your advice & ill let you know what happens :D

Mr S, all regserver does is refreshes the registry so if you've already re-installed, this probably wont help. When re-installing Microsoft stuff though, its always best to de-install the old product first as re-installing over the top doesn't always solve problems.

Are there any clues as to which files are missing and what are the actual errors ?

This is a wierd one, yesterday i reinstalled it 3 times, but uninstalled the previous version 1st, i booted up the pc today and everything was fine!? I tried ur suggestion green_blade and ms word loaded up fine! So i dunno what i did but it seems to be working ok now? This was a wierd problem. :confused: but cheers for the advice guys. :tup:
