This is my setup

amd xp 2000+
soyo dragon mobo
512Mb PC2700 Ram
IDE:
primary master- verbatim 40x cdrw
primary slave- 56x cdrom
secondary master- optorite 32x cdrw
secondary slave- LG dvd-rom 16x, 40x read
I also have an pci ide adapter that my hard drive is on.

I can burn 2 discs at the same time easily. I was wondering what would happen if I got another cdrom and burner and hooked them both up to the ide card. Would they be slower since its on a pci bus? I'm not talking about burning multiple copies of 1 disc, I'm talking about burning 3 seperate discs at the same time. I just don't want to buy this extra stuff if it isn't going to work. Also, would I need to upgrade my 350W ps if I get the extra drives? And if this works, what about 4 sets of cdroms/burners? I think I'm gonna need a bigger case.

On a side note, does anyone know of a benchmark program that I can use to test the speed of my cdrom drives?

Thanks in advance.

if you get external writers, say usb or firewire, you can get a fair few going at the same time id say.

This question has been asked a few times before, no one has actually said they have been able to burn more than 2 different cds at once , although in theory it may be possible you will get a lot of crashes. Burning multiple copies of the same cd though is no problem.

Use nero cd speed to test your drive speeds
