Greetings.I haven't been here for quite a long time, not since Liteon 24x was all the rage, which is currently what I still have.My problem is my cdrom drive,Teac540e. It was once really efficient. Now,the light blinks forever before it finally plays a cd,if at all. When an audio cd is playing,it tends to pause, then continue, quite frequently. Finally,I noticed that 'on the fly' burning at 24x,now seems to take about 8mins instead of 4mins. I suspect then that the Teac is not extracting audio as fast as it used to.
If anyone recognises these 3 symptoms,is there anything I could do,or should I send it to it's grave ? Yesterday,I tried cleaning the lens by putting a cd cleaner disc in,and putting a dab of isopropanol on the little brush on the underneath of the cd.But,didn't make any difference.
It does look like I should buy another,so,any recommendations as to current drives ,with excellent DAE and good general reliability?Preferrably as good or, better than the Teac used to be,and which will work well with my Liteon 24102B writer. Thanks for any help.:)
