If I want to play VCDs on the XBOX must I first put EVOX onto the box or can this be done without the need for evox?

Evo-x doesn't let you play VCDs, XBMedia player does, which can be run from CDrw, dvdr. Unless you want to install mediaplayer in you xbox then you must have evo-x.

Thanks Redwolf I new evox doesn' play it but I thought you had to have it installed to use it.
So if I put it onto a DVD-R how do I run the VCD cos I would have to take the DVD out to put the VCD in.

Burn the media player on the disk with the movie files you wanna play, easy as that. No EvoX needed.

...thanks Cal_G the trouble is I want to play from VCDs I already own. I don't want to have to reburn them all. Is there no way I can put the Media player onto the xbox Hard drive on its own or mus I put EVOX on first.

I think for what you want mate you are going to have to put EvoX on the hard drive, is there any reason why you dont want to do this? Maybee your PC is not in the same room as the Xbox or something?

Could always reburn to CDRW, erase it when your bored.
Sorry I couldnt be more help mate.

had it on before and my xbox fucced up. Had to take it back and swap it. Had it all working and FTp no probs then it just stopped and I couldn't get it to work again.
EVO-X in my opinion is to hit and miss. When it works great but when there are problems no one seems to have a clue what to do. Ther is not enough wriiten that I can find about Menu.ini and how to change it to do what you want.

If you put the media player on the hard drive and access it through the evox dash, can you just put a vcd in the dvd drive and play the movie. Would it work if the vcd was written onto a cd-rw? instead of a cd-r?

thanks
