mumbla Sep 05, 2002, 06:21 PM I have my xbox hooked to an output of my hub, but when i try to connect to the ip of my xbox using flashfxp, the connection just times out.
What should I assign the ip on my xbox to? How do i know im not using a pre-existing ip on the web?
What does the default gateway do and how should it be set?
Does my Windows XP network connection need to be set differently in any way?
handyguy Sep 05, 2002, 07:12 PM This gets asked here three times a day--so you should read the messages on the board first, they have all you need to know.
mumbla Sep 05, 2002, 07:49 PM i did a search on it and the 2 or so posts i found had methods that did not work for me
hazzad66 Sep 05, 2002, 08:11 PM Are you using DHCP or static assigned ip's? lets start with that...

danman Sep 06, 2002, 10:35 AM Check the IP of the box under Network Settings. put that in Flash make sure port is set to 21 and disable firewall this last bit was the cause of my probs, dont know about anyone else.
Jaymus Sep 06, 2002, 06:41 PM If you have a static IP, just use that as your gateway on the Xbox. Then set your Xbox IP last digit to something different
Example.
PC IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.108
Set Xbox IP to: xxx.xxx.xxx.107
Set Xbox Gateway to IP of PC: xxx.xxx.xxx.108
that should work, and take firewall off if any
I just use a cross over cable when I want to goto my Xbox, then just swap my normal internet connection cable back. Don't even have to reboot the PC.
Remember, Xbox only lets you log in once, so all you have to do is reboot the Xbox. If you swapped cables between internet and the Xover cable.
Hope that helps
Just find what your IP on your PC is first. Even dynamic should be fine. As long as your PC has one assigned. Then just modify the Xbox to match it as shown above, then reboot Xbox (assuming using Xover)

timoros Oct 19, 2002, 01:09 AM right, I have my xbox connected to a network hub, and I can ftp no probs.
Thing is, I'd like to use it as an MP3 folder of some kind, ie put some mp3s in a folder/partition and so everyone who connects can stream the songs directly from the xbox...
So far I have only managed to ftp using flash fxp. No matter what I did I couldn't see the xbox in WinXP's NETWORK PLACES...
Is this possible? and how can I share a whole folder??
