hey,

Im thinking of getting a dvd recorder the standalone unit one.
I know there still expensive but does anyone have one? how good are they? since i want to record of tv programs and also transfer some of me video tapes. am i just better of using the money to build a high spec pc to do the above? any links to online sites selling them?

talk of the town is the panasonic hs2 coming out in october. It comes with a built in 40gb hard drive and makes editing a breeze. It will sell for $750 us dollars. Check out ecost.com if you're in the US for the best prices.
