as the title says peeps, i am a student and a need summet 2 keep me busy over the winter, o before a blow me £££ on beer am thinkin ov gettin a console. i have heard xbox is better, but not as many top games as the ps2, but the ps2 is getting dated now? i just cant decide. over 2u peeps, help me make the right choice :D cheers, :beer: heath :cheers:

Me and my roomate have an Xbox. The only game we have is Halo, but tossing jeeps hundreds of feet in the air never gets old. I know people who have both and most of them have more games for the PS2 but most like the Xbox better. Although if you want the system to double as a dvd player the Xbox requires a stupid $30 remote. Just look at the types of games that you like and look at what games are coming out for each system soon and go from there. Good luck in your search.

get a ps2 because ps2 already has tons of games for it and also you can play all the old psx games on it. so if your looking for something to keep you busy then get the ps2.

I say get a xbox,i did and now i have just sold my ps2 as it is not half as good as the xbox

Xbox no doubt & no with the online options xbox just blow the ps2 out of the water, and if your getting a modded one they are a good $100 cheaper

PS2 all the way. Massive userbase, so not going to be another DC with developers fleeing. The XBOX so called exclusives will eventually be multiformat inc. most for PC inc. the likes of HALO.
XBOX has only got 2 good games Halo and project gothem.

PS2 has GTA3 (one of best games ever), GTA -vice city (on the way), Colin McRAE Rally coming (best Rally game), Toca,Pro Evolution Series (best footy games EVER),Metal Gear Solid, Commandos 2,Stuntman, MOH: Frontline (Best FPS),Tiger Woods 2002 (best Golf Sim), Virtua Fighter 4, Tekken, Soul Calibur 2 (on the way), The Sims (coming soon),Smackdown 4 (best Wrestling Game),LMA Manager 2002 (no doubt 2003 on the way), Premier Manager 2002 , Run like hell,Ferrari F355,Timesplitters 2, Shinobi,Robocop,Terminator,Space channel 5 (part 2),Onimusha, A new micromachines game :),New Tomb Raider, 007 - nightfire, Star Wars bounty Hunter,The Getaway,Aliens Game,Jimmy Whites Cueball World (coming soon) Best Snooker game. Sorry couldn't fit the other 300 games that I'd love to play that are coming soon. And with internet gaming kicking off soon, and some neat devices coming out for it the PS2 has more life left init than any other console and that's a fact. :)

Interesting saying most of the xbox exclusives will be multi format soon when practically that whole list of PS2 games are multiformat. I mean GTA3, Colin Mcrae, Metal Gear Solid, Soul Caliber, The Sims, Timesplitters,Terminator, 007 : Nightfire, SW Bounty Hunter - none of those are PS2 exclusives.

A Handful m8 of games m8?? even malice is comin to PS2 which was supposidly an xbox exclusive (droppin like flies i say!! :)

ps2 lots of games is nothing great when you can have much better done games with xbox, and they have most of the important games. Go with the future

The xbox is a failure hence the price has dropped 3 times since launch because they can't sell. It started off more than PS2 now is less than, can't you see this is because it was doing so crap it had to be done....
Better Done games?? lol that's a laugh Halo is superb I admit but that's the only major game... Project gothem = MSR with damage. the rest are plain **** DOA3 is crap compared to tekken 4 and VF4,

i'd go for the ps2.

main reason being the range of games available for it + you can get it chipped to play backups :)

What tends to be interesting about these posts is that most people that have both consoles recommend the xbox over the PS2 whereas people with just the PS2 recommend that. I'd definitely say the xbox is the one for the future as the difference in games is really beginning to show.

Obviously if you can afford them both then go for it. Alot of us cannot though. True, the PS2 does have better games right now. So what. That will change over time. Really, IMHO there are only a couple of must haves for the PS2 anyway. GTA3, MGS2, and Tiger Woods(which will be on XBOX in the Fall) are pretty much all the come to my mind right now. The XBox is the better machine period. This is not to say that I don't like my PS2. It's a great system. Just not as great as the Box.

I'd agree -PS2 really only has a few truly great games, GTA3 is already on PC and MGS2 is coming out on xbox as Metal Gear Solid Substance - albeit looking better with far better loading times, having said that willr anyone will care about MGS2 ion xbox with Splinter Cell, a game that already looks better than MGS2 out by then?

I have both & i would say xbox.PS2 has lots more games but only a handful of great titles.Xbox has a lot less games but better quality on the whole.

Xbox m8 just look at turok released on both consoles damn!! Xbox ones much much better , i have both consoles and have played both versions.
Its getting like the spectrum and c64 days when screen shots in magazines will say xbox screen shots, agghh those where the days :)

Yeah I have both and play the ps2 more at the minute but I know the x-box is the better machine.Next year will be a big year for the consoles and to be honest as a machine I rate the Ps2 behind the gamecube too.What I will say about the x=box though is that the controller is bloody awful.

all u xbox fans r u kidding lol, ps2 rips the xbox, eg: GTA3,tekken 4,gta vice city (out soon) + more great gAMES the graphics r better and the controller is more easier 2 control. ps2 was realesed ages ago and xbox a few mouths ago aND they r the same price if u want great enteranment go the ps2 and get it modded so u dont havve to blow all your mpney on games and stuff XBOX AND GAMECUBE = BORING WASTE OF TIME PS2= ENJOYMENT OVER THE HOLIDAYS AND GREAT ALL THE TIME!

xbox has much sharper higher res graphics, true 5.1 surround sound, built in hard drive for putting your tunes on, built in broadband and is 3 times more powerful.

Also youre guaranteed the best versions of all the new multiplatform games like medal of honour, time splitters 2, metal gear solid 2 substance, turok, colin mcree 3, etc etc

Ps2 is really struggling in the graphics dept ask any one whose played Toca race driver, looks sh*te. problem is very few companys have the skills to programme good games, too difficult and time consuming, hence 100s of crappy games.

Also loads of xbox exclusives like splinter cell, dead or alive 4, halo 1 and 2, shenmu 3, panzer dragon, blinkx, rallisport challenge (best rally game which leaves gt3 standing), project gotham 2 online, racing evoluzione, etc etc.

if you want last years technology with loads of average games get a ps2, if you want the latest technology get an xbox - u can get one chipped for less than 200 now.

rip ps2, mines collecting dust under the tele :(

you obviously dont have an xbox if you reckong the gfx r better.
ive only had my xbox a month but ive been on my ps2 just once and that was to test a game not play it
