I tried to play a disc on a friends player but it keeps coming up "NO DISC". It works fine on mine. Could it be that the movie does not take up enough of the disc for it to be recognised? I seem to remember someone saying this a while back. If this is the case, Can I just pad the disk out with any old rubbish or must it be VOB files etc and do they need to be in the VIDEO_TS folder.

Maybe your friend's player just doesn't like the media.

Thanks celtic but that is not the problem. They have borrowed many of my discs and never had a problem before. Just this one film. I have tried it on other media but with the same result. Just this one movie. I'm sure it's because the files take up less than 1 gig of space on the disc.

it's nothing to do with how much room it takes on the disc.

More than likely there is an error on the dvd that is preventing it from playing on your mates player.

OK...I have tried copying the vob files to another folder and renaming them, then putting them back in the correct folder. I did this several times until I had nearly 4 gig of data in the folder and run off another copy. This time it found the disc and the sound was fine but the picture was scrambled so althou I got further, it still does not work.Looks like size matters after all....well, partly...
