got a lite onLTR-16102B, and has been working great in all respects until I had to reload Windows ME (thats another story). Anyway, after installing windows the burner was very sluggish in respect to copying (I ws backing up a playstation game for my son). So I went to Lite On and got the latest firmware OSok, and now the burner wont copy nothing at all. When I try to burn for example music (audio CD, using Nero (any verison), it gets to about30 seconds into it and it says write error, nothing else. Then I tried CDclone (4.0), and it does the same thing.
I am wondering first off, how to remove the firmware update I did, and second, if anyone knows what I can do to make it burn again??

I also updated my VIA Chipset driver, and reflshed my CD-Burner. I just tsried to burn an MP3 and after it burns the TOC (I can see it when I go to media (In nero), but not in Explorer, and it only shows the TOC, and then the write error happens.

Thanks,

Curt

If you can find an old binary file of your firmware or if you dumped it before flashing then you can flash back to your old firmware using MKFlash.

Thanks for the reply...I did try to do a search of the web to try and get an older verison of my firmware (sorry I didnt mention it), but Lite on says once you upgrade, you cant go back, so I stopped the search...but hey if it can be done, I will do it!! Anyway, Lite on has previous firmware on thier site but it is blacked out (like the file is not on the server)...

ASPI checks the most up to date drivers, re checked BIOS and they are most up to date, it just seems plain strange that it will burn the TOC for an audio CD, and the lead in for a data CD, but stops just like that, I am thinking the laser might need a calibration, as everything else works fine. The drive reads disks (OEM, previous burnt disks, etc)

Thanks...the quest continues!!

I know its frowned upon to post links to other forums, but I also know that this one is ok from experience. You should be able to find the answer on one of the threads here : http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=44

IS DMA ENABLED FOR THIS DRIVE,ALSO TRY TO BURN AT SLOWER SPEEDS.IF YOU FIND IT WILL BURN AT A SLOWER SPEED U MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE THE PIO MODE SETTINGS IN YOUR BIOS.ALSO DO A VIRUS SCAN,I HAD ONE ONCE THAT ONLY LET ME COPY ABOUT ONE TENTH OF A CD THEN IT JUST CRAPPED OUT ON ME

I appreciate the replies...Yes I did make sure that DMA was able...I got that tip from reading CD FREAKS...and I did post a messgae there a couple days ago, and no response yet...

I did a full virus scan on the PC this past weekend after it started...so I am still out of ideas...

Anyone??
