Hello, I am an 18 year old student in need of some spending cash. I am considering a credit card to use for some quick money.

Which do all you fellow students recomend for a first timer and what should I be looking for? I.E. how many months free interest, and rates of APR,

Many thanks,

Ben,

Ahem, this is a Consumers forum for computer related buys.

Graphics cards yes, credit cards no. ;)

(hope lazza doesn't mind)

I would recommend egg.com or smile.co.uk for visa cards, they're both 6 months interest free then have rates of about 10.9% APR - would be good if you're aiming to max them out.

Also, try your bank for some hope. I have banked with natwest all my life and when I asked them for a credit card they gave me a £2000 limit (this for an 18 year old mind when some people don't even get more then £500).

Be wary though, they're all too nice to provide credit handouts... but when you don't make payments (as some of my mates have) they'll sting you beyond belief.

take care and I hope that helps. buzz me if you need any more info.
