My Plexwriter 40/12/40 has just started to make a horrendous grating noise when the drawer opens.
It appears to be the gogs not quite being lined up properly.
This also happened with a Plextor 40x SCSi reader I once had.
Is this a common problem or am I just unlucky.
( I always use the eject button for opening and closing ).

It is going back for certain, however of all the CD drives I've had over the years starting with the Yamaha 100 these are the only two it has happened to.

Probably bad luck mate as I haven't had any problems with my pleccy's.

Send them back for sure and ask plex nicely why this happens - they should be able to get back to you with a reason (be it technical I can't guarantee). :)

I would say it is bad luck, I have never had any problems with any of my Plextors. :D

get a lite on works for me and have never had a problem

My opinion would be that it is just bad luck. Some of us just seem to have it. I received faulty RAM from Crucial last year, so anything is possible.

if its under warranty then send it back
