i have just bought a reilys 16x dvd rom the problem is the dog got my driver disk and ate it now i cant get it working when i unplug it and then plug back in windows wont detect it ??? any help would be nice

It shouldn't need a driver to run under windows, other than perhaps 95. Is it detected by your BIOS??

What version of windows are you using?
Make sure that you don't have two masters or two slaves hooked up to one IDE cable as well.

i am using windows me ..it worked fine on my old h-drive (when it worked)

You don't need a drivers disk unless you want it to work in dos.
It should automatically be detected in bios and installed by windows.
You're probably plugging it in wrong or not setting it up correctly to detect in bios.

Well if it is plugged in correctly then your BIOS will detect it. Make sure that it has power, is connected to either your IDE or SCSI depending on the drive and that it is correctly set to either master or slave for IDE or has a unique ID for SCSI.
