Im thinking about buying a Panasonic PV40 portable DVD player (without screen). Primarily for its MP3 playback.

I got a MP3 incar and need one for inhouse and was thinking about the NAPA players, but thought id go one steup ahead and buy a portable DVD player that plays MP3s aswell.. and found the Panasonic for sale in Dixons for £229.99.... not a bad price.

I might be getting a tft screen in the car aswell, so itll come in handy for passengers to watch on long journeys or summit.

Now.... its region 2 and most of my DVDs are region 1 - Ive searched the net for solutions to make it region free and have so far found out that its gonna cost poss bout £50 for a f/w upgrade to unlock it.

Does anyone have any other ideas?? or a cheaper place to buy it? Or a cheaper place to get it region free??

Any ideas/solutions will be appreciated..

thanks
