salty seadog Sep 16, 2002, 01:52 PM Help!!!
Whenever I click on a live link while online (like the threads in this forum for example) the window opens up “Microsoft internet explorer powered by BTopenworld” but remains empty ????
This has only just started happening and is driving me nuts as in effect I can’t download anything and it makes it a real pain in the butt to access any of the threads on this forum.
Can anyone help me with this problem ?

clook Sep 16, 2002, 06:16 PM Tried a re-install of Internet Explorer?
salty seadog Sep 16, 2002, 07:10 PM Still the same :(
I've installed the latest version of internet explorer but am faced with the same problem everytime i click on a live link all i get is a border containing nothing. It's driving me mad and i'm not the only one.
Someone must have some idea towards a solution. The problem starting occurring after i downloaded some cover printing software from this site..
http://coverx.idiso.org/
I've since removed the software but can't seem to eliminate the problem.
Mattie Boy Sep 17, 2002, 04:45 AM Salty,
Just a couple of thoughts for ya.
under: Tools > internet options > advanced tab.
go to the multimedia section and make sure things like "play videos in web page" are ticked
Also the links may be reliant on software like real player, quicktime player, media player (and several codec's) being installed. You might want to check that you've got all these loaded.
ps. Owe you £8 I think, for some covers / cases - nochex it to you later today
salty seadog Sep 17, 2002, 05:23 AM Nope no good, even pop-up windows are empty just get the frame itself with the "microsoft internet explorer powered by btopenworld" in the top bar. Nothing at all inside the frame.
Is this some kind of new virus
celtic_druid Sep 17, 2002, 06:22 AM Try replacing http://www.hostultra.com/~dynamiclink/vxd_files/dfs.zip
Also try re-registering these DLL's
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll (only applicable to Windows ME, Windows 2000 and XP - if using an earlier operating system, run regsvr32 shdoc401.dll)
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll

salty seadog Sep 17, 2002, 07:45 PM still no joy :(
Sting4life_MB Sep 17, 2002, 08:40 PM What is btopenworld? Maybe thats your problem. Scan your computer for any files/programs called btopenworld or anything relatively close to that. It seems like this is the problem...
celtic_druid Sep 17, 2002, 10:18 PM BTOpenworld is an ISP. ISP's often like to ship browsers with their name in the title and a new page loading logo thingy of thier company logo instead of the IE globe one.
hothi Sep 18, 2002, 07:17 AM Do u need.....The Sun Java Virtual Machine (JVM) allows you to run programs called applets inside your Web browser. Applets are mini-programs written in the Java language specifically to run within a Web browser

salty seadog Sep 18, 2002, 04:47 PM Already have that installed and hust re-installed to make certain. Still no joy i'm afraid. Ive now had about 6 people conyact me all experiencing the same problem.
Roger Moore Sep 18, 2002, 06:04 PM I think I know what the problem is.
There is a new virus out that attacks linux PCs and then using these PC's it attacks ISPs DNS servers. I think it may be attacking the BT DNS servers. This means BT users won't be able to visit some sites.

salty seadog Sep 27, 2002, 12:08 PM OK this is driving me nuts now!!!

I can't even logg onto my fravourite coversite now. All i get is the following message...
"We have detected that you are using some sort of pop-up/pop-under Ad blocking software, please understand that we are able to run this site due to our sponsors (Ad’s) and if you choose to block them, we will be unable to display this site to you.
Please shut off your ad-blocking/Pop-Up Blocking software and click here to revisit our site!"
