I had a problem loading drivers with a new computer I have. It messed up the registry when trying to load the driver for my network card

I formatted the hard drive thinking I could just start over and re install windows 98se...I formatted the d=fard drive but now when i start the computer with the startup disk, the computer comes to a c:/ promt but doesnt start in md dos with cdrom support..when i used to do it, id turn the computer on with the startup disk and it would automatically ask me if i wanted to start with cdrom support,,
what did i do? How do I fix this??
any help would be appreciated...
thanks

If you have put in your bootup disk, and it still boots to a C:\ prompt, it appears that your floppy drive is not set to bootup first.

Go into Setup and and set the bootup to A:C: Hit Esc, Save and exit setup.

With your disk in the floppy drive, it should boot up properly.

On most PC's it the delete key, some systems it F1,or F10. Looking at PC as it boots it might tell you which key is required.

Usually is the "Del" key. You have to turn on your computer, and when appears the CPU information (P-III 700, 384 MB RAM...) press the Del key. Then your computer will enter on BIOS setup. Look at the options, there should be one that tells you "System Start UP" with the sequence (C,A,D,SCSI). If you have one like this, you can change it to start up from A (perhaps you could start with your CD-Rom too). Save this option and exit. The computer restarts and all will be OK.

How old is your PC, most computers these days will have cdrom support in the bios. Go into your bios as it is described above. Choose the first menu on your bios screen. In here you will have all your drive info.

Primary master should either be set to auto, or will have info in it, I suggest using the page up, page down keys and select all master and secondary IDE ports to auto.

These days you don't need to auto detect drives, let the pc do the work
