spinna Sep 17, 2002, 06:17 PM my xbox plays DVD-R games fine, but when i play games on verbatim CD-RW some times the games crash when they are loading, like in-between levels etc. Not all the time but some times - sometimes they work fine.
could this be that my XBOX doesnt like CD-RW disks and i should stick to the DVD-R games ??.
the games that im playing ive burned my self from ISO's using nero ,
could it be something im doing wrong??
Meerdorf Sep 17, 2002, 06:18 PM no, some cdrw games just dont work well, one being crazy taxi 3 and another iss 2.
spinna Sep 17, 2002, 06:20 PM so i could just be the game ? some times it says the disk is damaged or dirty
jockyboy Sep 17, 2002, 06:31 PM try burning with different software.
nero's not the most reliable, don't ask me what is,it's just a personal preference
handyguy Sep 17, 2002, 06:55 PM look at hole in your drive tray, if its a perfect U you got a thompson drive.
Cal_G_UK Sep 18, 2002, 05:27 AM CDRW do tend to do that on some games, worst I have came accross is the CD version of oddworld, it would always lock up when playing for a certain ammount of time. The same image burned to a DVD-R played perfect all the way through, never crashed once.
Guess we can conclude from this that your problem is the disk and not the image.
Peace

handyguy Sep 18, 2002, 06:21 PM Thompson drives aren't made to read cdrw/cdr media at ALL.....this of course, is mentioned no less than 50 times already, but you're welcome to try them & see if they work. dvdrs do work well.
MoThreat Sep 18, 2002, 07:40 PM My Thompson drive reads CDRs fine for music, but not a-n-y games. It does fine with most types of CDRWs for games, but not every brand - oddly certain games work better on certain brands/speeds of CDRWs. Ex: NFL Blitz 2003 works 100% fine on my Memorex 4X CDRWs, but not so well on Memorex 12X CDRWs I just bought [slow loads & random crashes]. While most other games don't seem to care at all. Keep in mind that all these games are burnt with Prassi's Primo 2.0 and at the same speed.
It seems every drive has it's own peculiarities - even among the same type of drive. No one knows what brand will work on your Xbox - CDRW or DVD-R, so keep trying diff media until you find what your drive likes.

Isn't the box supposed to read music cds?
handyguy Sep 20, 2002, 08:06 PM Music stores have music cds you can try--for games. Haven't tried them myself they are more expensive.

Uh, do you even read your own posts? You just said Thompson drives don't read any CDR/CDRWs at all. You may be a mod but you don't seem to know much about burning CDR/CDRWs on Xbox. What's your field of expertise? PS2 DVD-Rs? I'm not trying to be rude, but most of your Xbox posts seem very "newbie-ish" for a forum mod.
BTW, music CDR/CDRWs are just lower speed media [read lower quality]. The reason they cost more is because they include a "license" that the disc maker pays to the ASCAP [or the EURO/Asian equiv of ASCAP]. Basically music CDR/CDRWs are for people with home stereo burners, e.g. people with too much money and too little savvy. :)
