lol, ya. Knife trick is free.

a V2, you might want to check what BIOS chip you have. If you have a 010, you are crap out of luck. There are currently NO non-swap modchips for that. Single swap chips are still available for all models of course.

but knife is cheapest, but I have heard people's try jamming due to the pin not pushed all the way or lasers going bad (that's probably not due to knife trick) anyway. It is the cheapest way

besides the knife trick. you can get a usb mod chip for $12. it only has 1 wire to solder to 2 points inside the ps2. farely easy to do.
