Right, before I get flamed for having posted something "Which has been said 1000s of times before" - I have looked thru the forum, and couldn't find anything. If you would like to point me towards a previous post with a solution I'd be very happy....
I've just got my X-Box, mainly for the purpose of playing DivX on it, and I would like to be able to stream the files from PC - which I hear is possible...
As I understand, you need an X-Stream server to do this, so I downloaded and installed WXSTREAM v1.52, added my media and started "Listening". I configured my media player configs to point to the ip of my PC (<remote>192.168.0.1</remote>), and started up Media Player 6.
It does the "Searching for an Xstream server" bit, and then goes back to the main page with the list of directories, not showing the files from my PC. When I look back at WXSTREAM I see:
"Unknown Command: HELLO XSTREAM 6.0
Listing files"
The same happens with Media Player 5.
I'm using Windows XP (SP1) and running ICS on my main PC, and the ip is 192.168.0.1, the IP of my X-Box is 192.168.0.2. I'm quite sure I've got the configs written correctly.
The X Box must be communicating with my PC otherwise nothing would show up on X Stream, I also tested X-Stream was Listening properly by going to http://localhost:1400 - X-Stream displayed loads of irrelevant info.
I'm sure others have had the same trouble, any help would be much appreciated. Also I'll try some other XSTREAM servers if you can point me towards some...
Thanks
