hi,

a m8 hired a very scratched copy of wreckless from blockbusters...i ripped it, but had a devil of a job doing it...folder by folder!, and in some instances file by file!!, with it halting and crashing my xbox resulting int he need for reboot/reconnect at these 3 files:

ed_cap02GR.dds in data\MapB08\

ho_66.wav in data\sound\gamefr

Dri_02.wav data\sound\gameus

ripped folder size is: 1.60GB (1,725,213,760 bytes)

and it contains 2,266 files, 65 folders

so, to my question...just wondering if this is one of the difficult games to rip via evox/flashfxp method?, or is it more likely to be cos the original disc was scrated to hell?...

btw, i've burnt it and it seems to play ok

:)
the only prob with having to use the xbox it self to rip games is u cant controll the disk read speed so scratches r gona cause a prob if serious enough
maybe someone could make a nice little ripping prog that can change readspead and verify the data would take longer but u would know u got a good rip then if disk looks scratched

hi romps, thanks for the info, it makes alot of sense, but prompts me into asking another potentially dumb question, have u used xbcopy?, if so, is it a more reliable method to rip to hdd first, then ftp over? i.e. does xbcopy get u a good copy from a seemingly fukd disc?...cos this is the first time i've such nightmares ripping a disc..even a scratched one, i've ripped other scratched discs by just ftp over and leave her ripping....bah!, it's terrible really, some peeps have no respect for blockbusters by treating their disc with such little regard!...thereby making it a b@st@rd for other peeps to rip them :-)

Next time I would try removing some of the scratches first. If you don't have a scratch remover kit you can just buff the disc with tooth paste and the scratches will be filled. This should make it easier to read the disc when ripping or playing.
