New to DVD copying; have read the DVD2DVDR guide but must be doing something wrong.

After ripping with Smartripper as instructed, I should have a Video_ts and a Audio-ts to burn from, but all I get is vob's ifo's bup's etc. etc.

What am I doing wrong ?

Can someone guide me through the basic settings/process for ripping with Smartripper and burning with Prassi Primo.

All advice would be appreciated, as 4 tries and 4 coasters now !

Smartripper doesn't make these folders for you...you have to put all the files that you have ripped into it's own "VIDEO_TS" (must be caps) folder and have another folder ""AUDIO_TS" (again, must be caps) folder for compatibility issues. Then burn to a DATA DVD with your favorite burning app....I use Prassi.

Thanks for that m8, so I put all the files that Smartripper made into the newly made VIDEO_TS folder and just make an Empty AUDIO_TS folder, then simply burn the DVD with these 2 files; have I got that right ?

Assuming I understood corectly on the above:
I have just tried to create the 2 files, but it will not allow me to name them or rename them in caps, it automatically changes them back to lower case, how do I get around this problem ?

What operating system are you using? Doesn't sount like you are using XP, because it allows all caps folders.

Also, if you don't use Prassi to burn, just burning a data DVD won't work in a standalone player. If you use Nero, you need to burn it as a UDF/ISO or DVD video, and DO NOT use the wizard, or it won't work.

I am using W98 and Prassi Primo DVD2, but also have Nero;
is there no way to use all caps for folders in W98 ?

I'm not sure if WIN 98 allows this or not. I'm pretty sure loads of people are using win98, but if you're serious about backingup DVD's, you should move to a NT based platform (ie, NT/2000/XP)

Thanks to all for your input;
anyone know if W98 allows a way to name files in Caps ?

Here you go, just figured it out.

Open a folder and select "View," then "Folder Options." On the multi-tabbed dialog box that follows, select the "View" tab. Under "Files and Folders," check "Allow all uppercase names." Click the "Like Current Folder" button if desired - it will change all folder settings to the ones of the current folder.

just tried to burn a movie, used Smartripper and made the video and audio files. burnt with Nero using UDF/ISO x1 speed, got another coaster, am going to try burning with Prassi now and see if that works.

Nero will make the folders for you if you select DVD Video from the choices. IF you choose that, and put your files inside the VIDEO_TS folder, it should work tits. I use it all the time, and works every time.

Use this prassi guide when you use Prassi

Site is sometimes slow...so have some patience with it.

Burnt my first working movie, perfect on the PS2 but a bit jittery on my very expensive stand alone, typical.
Sincere thanks to all on this thread who helped me out.
