can anyone help when opening smartripper
i get the message aspi access to this drive
it still loads the dvd
but when start it i only get speeds of 0.9-1.9
and it takes about 2 hours
i am running 1800 xp
793mb rams
samsung sd616f
should it take this long or do i need the aspi installed to make it run faster
any help would be grateful
as this is my first attempt at riping a dvd

You could try installing an ASPI layer and see if it helps with the speed. Also check that DMA is enabled for the drive.

where do i get an aspi layer from and enable dma

search for ASPI on google

and to enable dma go into system/ hardware /device manager /ide ATA/ATAPI controllers right click on appropriate channel /properties and advanced tab there should be an option to enable DMA there
