i ripped the movie on my pc and dont have it anymore, so i have my ifo and vob's but i want to author it in spruce up. i tried importing it to smartripper and it worked until i put it in spruce-up, there it said something like the codecs werent matching up. Is there a way around this or can i author these files in maestro? thanks for any help-

you need to demux the audio and video. TMPGEnc's mpeg tool can do it for you. You'll end up with a m2v and ac3 for each VOB. Those can be imported into spruceup. You'll need to extract only one audio stream, so use the demultiplex function and select the streams, rather than the simple demultiplex. You may want to merge all the VOB's into one, to make things simpler, and then demultiplex it. There a number of tools on www.doom9.net that you can download to do this.
You could also use IFOEdit to generate new files for you. Delete all but the movie VOB's, open IFOEdit, click creat IFO's button, and point it to the 1st VOB, and it will make the files for you to burn, without having to author it.
If the original movie files are too big, you'll still have to reencode the video to make it fit.
