I have a ps2 modded with a neo 2.2 and its worked fine for over a year and a half now. Last night i was playing knock out kings 2002 and the game froze up and when i hit eject it wouldnt come out. I re set my ps2 and i tryed to eject and it still wont come out. The little blue light on the bottom donst come on anymore and the tray wont eject at all. My ps2 turns on fine and i can hear the fan. When i first turn it on the the red light comes on and i hit eject and it turns green but it dosnt blink and the tray wont ever eject. Anyone please tell me what i need to get it fixed and how much it will cost. Someone please help me.

Well hope someone helps you on this question, but if I was you I would've been did a manual ejection instead of waiting for a response and it just may have been loop out of its place like other known cds in players !

Well I hope that helps you out a little ;_)P

if your cd's keep freezing try boiling them.
the mod handyguy has a topic about boing cd's if they are giving you a problem.
why are you sticking the cd's in the frezer anyway?

did you try turning off your ps2 from the back and then turning it on again?

Jaymus
Sep 26, 2002, 06:56 PM
Ya, try that. All you said was reset. Try powering off (the back switch) and wait like 1 min, then turn it on (backswitch first) then when the red light is on, power on by using the eject button.

if you can open your ps2 you can take the top of the dvdrom and remove the disk and see if it ejects.cant really say without looking at the ps2.

Hey jaice if it did overheat or if i did blow a fuse how can i get it repaired and how much will it cost. I Dont think it overheated because it still powers on and the red light still comes on and when i hit eject it turns green but the tray wont open and there is no blue light.

Try unplugging it from wall for a FULL minute. Just turning it off in back isn't enough. This resets any applicance, tv, vcr, computer etc

Jaymus

It blew a surface mount fuse somewhere in there that controls the buttons probably. If you have a multimeter, you can check the usual ones that are like 2mm black squares with 50, 20, S7 written in white on top of them. These fuses control various functions on the PS2. Like video/audio, vibration.

I fixed the vibration function myself by doing that.

Anyhow, just a thought. Else you can always have it repaired. probably $60 or so.

try unplugging it from the wall for a full 5min then try it. if that dont work just do the knife trick to get the game out, (cfizz's site 4 dat) then try it.

HTH

PS -- MrPinkEyez i rely hope u where kidding about him putting the cd in the freezer, if not, well......

call sony- tell them what gives. dont tell them you have a chip. maybe they can help you out some how

whobutme
Sep 30, 2002, 02:54 PM
I really dont want to call sony because if i call them then i will have to mail them my ps2 for them to fix it and when they fix it they will see the chip and then they might not send it back to me or they might take the chip out. Im sure there is someone here who can repair my ps2.

Sep 30, 2002, 02:56 PM
you dont know that for sure - maybe its a simple fix. and they may be able to tell you how to fix it over the phone.
anyway - you dont have to mail them anything. just call and ask, if they say you need to send it in, dont do it

oh, sorry man. Your post didn't get bumped. Just saw it.

Anyhow, I had mine fixed with the a/v problem with eccsmods. Dunno what happened to him.

anyhow, precisionmods.com or psx-tech.com are both excellent and trustworthy.

I called sony and they requested that i send them my ps2, so i cant do that because i have a neo 2.2 modchip. What do i do??????

Yeah, having to play an old dreamcast is a big cause of ps2's breaking down. </Sarcasm> You need to be more clear. Saying its not working isn't gonna help much. Whoever suggested calling Sony was to find out what the problem was exactly, like "You must of have a blown fuse..." or "Too much dust" and doing a easy repair. If its broken, pay to get it fixed. Dont send a modded ps2 to Sony, you wont get it back. Jaymus suggested going to precisionmods.com or psx-tech.com , why dont you check there?

Well, this just happen to me, and i have a magic 2 chip. My ps2 froze and now it seems as if there is no eject button. It powers on, but the light doesn't go blue. and the tray won't eject no matter what.???

bleepster

sounds more and more like an on board fuse blew. just break down and have some one professional look at it, if you dont want to, take out your chips and buy a new ps2.

seems like people are trying to help, but you are looking for an easy way out, or an easy fix, and i doubt there is one.
if all else fails - take it apart yourself and see what gives. force the tray open, and take it from there. if you break it, what you out?

yes it does, I am somewhat of a pro installer, and i know the install was fine because i had no problems for a few days. However, when the ps2 froze, and i saw that that little blue light was out i knew i was in trouble. Mine is going back to walmart today.....

I believe the man stated he hit the switch and now it won't open at all. I had this problem after I dropped solder on a bad point with a neo 2.0 about a year ago. I honestly think one of a few things happened. Either you had a short on the motherboard or else something came loose on your install. I think you got a shorted board though. You probably had a brownout of power flux and that froze the game (like a pc freezes when you have a brownout) and if your not hooked up to a surge protector it will short the motherboard. I would suspect power flux if your in an older house too. Either way you need to crack that thing open and start testing for a short.

my ps2 had a same problem as yours, the blue light won't turn on at all.
and i did open it up and put the disc manually but it won't boot up...:(
i send it to a pro installer to repair it, but the machine is still with him, once he got it repair i will let you what is wrong!

btw, just got my premod messiah ps2, it run all the games perfectly!!!!
messiah rock!!!:)

I dont want to open my ps2 myself because i dont know what im doing. Im waiting for a reply from precisionmods and ps2 tec. Hey Naughty who did u send your ps2 to get it repaired?????? And hey Mindgames how serious is the problem if it is a short on my motherboard or something came lose on my install?? How much do u think it cost to get it fixed????

Mind Gamez
Oct 10, 2002, 12:44 PM
That is hard to say how much. If it's the motherboard then they would have to reinstall the chip and who knows how much they would chg for all that. If it's just a install problem it could be cheap like $30 or so.

Hmmm, when I modded my xbox I almost destroyed it, I f*cked up like 4 points, and the little metal pieces in there were ripped off, I sent it to psx-tech and he fixed it for $10, (I also included another $40 or so for him to install the mod after he fixed the xbox).

So yeah psx-tech.com is very trustworthy, great site and good prices, just contact them, they probably can fix it, I mean they fixed up my ****ed up xbox motherboard and it works great... your problem doesnt sound as serious as mine was so it should be easy and cheap
