Hi peeps, ive just got a 104 stuck it in a machine loaded prassi. I go to burn a dvd in usual fashion from the hard drive, prassi goes through its cycle and asks what speed i wish to burn at i click go then it comes up with data job terminated with errors and the disk ejects with nothing burnt to it, this happens every time with different folders, any of you gurus got any ideas ? you might not have the proper files. Prassi checks to make sure that you DVD will be compliant with a settop player, if it detects it won't, then it will not burn.

If you're using the ifoedit method...you mihgt have forgot to hit "Get VTS sectors"

Thanks for your reply sssjk, all i have done is taken a movie already on a dvdr, transferred the video ts folder and attempted to burn it. so i'm not using ifo edit mate. Any other suggestions. Maybe something is corrupt in the file ive only tried the one film i'll try another.

Why not do a global image. This will copy everything thats on the disk.

Did you get the px engine update for Prassi. I assume you have or it might not of recongized the drive.

Anyway, I would do that first. Get the latest firmware and the px engine update. That's been the problem for alot of people with 104 and Prassi. Also make sure you do the DMA and PIO settings right....I forgot which. Do a search or something

I would never use the firmware updates personally as from what I have heard - They do more bad than good. I suppose if you got problems then yeah, use firmware, but don't update yours if its working OK.

yup, I am not ugrading my firmware, cuz it's just for the 4x media. I wouldn't buy those anyhow, also 104 can only burn at 2x. So what's the use.

He still needs the px engine for sure though

pioneer update is not for 4 times because the drive will only write at 2 times no matter what

Yes, I said 4X [MEDIA] and I said it can only burn at 2X

imho,
high speed media may become the only media available even though the a/104 can only burn at 2x, and to use this in the a/104 may cause problems/damage as is widely advertised, not to use this firware upgrade is a rather stupid call to make unless of course you get a new burner just for the faster media.
