On my website, I need for different people to be able to login to a page and then be able to add updates to the homepage. Meaning, they can type a message and it will be added to the top of the homepage, where anyone can view it. What kind of system do I need for this?

I agree with Lycrake, NewsPro is the best in having multiple users post updates to a site. I use it :D
