I'm using Zonealarm and the application "winkow.exe" tries to access the internet. The file is located in the windows/system folder. Anyone know what it is or does? I've searched through Google with no success.

Sounds like you've picked up a Trojan.
Try running the Cleaner:
http://www.moosoft.com/thecleaner/
And see if it pick anything up.

It's a Klez Virus. Get Klez Cleaner from www.pspl.com The file is named as clrav.exe
Also visit http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.klez.removal.tool.html to obtain the similar kind of tool from Norton.
