I found a place to buy an A03 pioneer pretty cheap.
www.sncomputers.com and now im wondering about dvdr to use. I like the prices on www.cdrecordable.com but from what ive read here they not so great for PS2. Anyone got cheap ones that they recommend? And are the cdrecordable ones good for just file storage (need to archive my HD, hehe).

The meritline dvd-rs are a waste of money for PS2 backups. These discs will not work in the PS2, well at least not in my experience. I got one to boot to a black screen and the others stay at the GS loading screen. And no it isn't me, I have others I have made using apple media that worked great. Anyways, don't cut costs, apple is sell theirs for $25 for a 5 pack on their site, well worth it.

they should all boot up in a ps2 but it is not reccomended cause the fmv will be choppy and the drive will spin faster than it needs to cause it is having trouble finding the data!

Ive tried verbatim princo apple and some unbranded ones so far in my dvd player and in a ps2 all have been fine.
