I'm trying to gather space on my HDD, i've deleted about 700mb of files, and numerous programs (that I know all together is atleast 1.5gb, yet my space has only increased by like "0.01gb" why is this? i've ran a Thorough Scan Disk and i've Defragged the computer, what is wrong??

do you have a program that manages files you delete, say like how one of the subprograms of norton system works does?

Did you empty the Recycle Bin also? Deleted files would likely stay there.

yes i've done all that and no, I don't have any Norton products?!is there any other reasons?thanks:)

Have you tried scandisk or chkdsk the fat sometimes reports the amount of freespace incorrectly, in which case aformentioned programs would fix that.
