Hi,
I am in the middle of ordering a computer, and dell has a reasonable offer which I am thinking of taking.

However it has the option of upgrading to a Dell DVD+RW. Extra £141

Although I'm a bit dubious on whether this model is any good.
I also looked at the Sony DRU 110A, PIONEER 104 & A04 and a Panasonic LF-D311. I can't really see any big difference.

Could someone recommend a model ? (keeping within a moderate price)

Cheers.

Well the Sony is a DVD+R/RW drive, the Pioneer's are DVD-R/RW the 104 being the cheaper OEM version with no software.

That model Panasonic I believe supports 1XDVD-R as well as DVD-RAM.

So as you can see there is a fair bit of difference.

I would think that the dell DVD+RW drive is similar if not the same as the Sony drive.

The 104 would seem to be the most popular drive around here, although there are a few new models coming out soon.

Anyway, I'm moving this to consumer's opinion.
