i got norton system works 2002 pro, but the question is about norton AV

is there a way to make it so that there arent popups when viruses are detected, and when they cant be repaired?

im on a college network, and all of my shares are read-only, except for an upload folder that i made that has write access to it so people can send me their files.

only problem is that this entire dorm that has shares that are read and write are infested with nimda and i get popups from norton every 10 minutes or so of another machine on the network attempting to put nimda on my computer....after a while these popups get annoying since i know NAV is doing its job good and dont want to know about it anymore.

I don't think so. Here's a quote from the help file:
Try to repair then quarantine if unsuccessful: Auto-Protect tries to repair the file and automatically quarantines the file if it cannot be repaired. If the file cannot be quarantined, access to the file is denied to prevent the virus from infecting your computer. On Windows 98 and Windows Me, Auto-Protect takes these actions without any intervention from you, and without notifying you. On Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP, Auto-Protect notifies you of the result of each action.

Have you spoken to the Network / system admin about this? He/she should be able to get the network shares cleaned up.
