My xbox randomly powers down while I'm playing a game or watching a movie. This has only started recently. I've had the xbox for a couple months now and it has an enigma chip in it. it has always worked perfectly until now. do you think it is the power cord or what else could it be?

Its unlikely to be the power cord but use a different one just in case.I had the exact same problem with a ps2 & it turned out to be the psu.Hope this helps

heat, probably from being on the rug or in an entertainment case.....or dust on the vents, etc

well i really hope it isn't the xbox itself as its modded and i wouldn't know where to go to get it fixed. The xbox sits on the floor right now and I hope its a heat issue. i'll place it on a table and see how things work out.

Ok, I tried moving the xbox off the carpet and that actually did the trick for a day or so. However, the problem still occurs occassionally. What else could it be?

did u take cover off to see if it's the heat problem? If it runs good with the cover off u might want to replace fan with a stronger one

Maybe your power cord isn't tight & chekc your video cable too?
