This may be of some interest, received e-mail today from Tiscali. I use them for my 56k connection and can't fault them.

Tiscali Broadband service from only £19.99 a month.

http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/broadband/?code=SM-NL-11AN

If anyone uses this, let me know what they think.

I also use them for 56k connection and they are good but not all areas can get broadband because they are too far from the exchange. I am one of them unfortunatley

£24 a month for 512k and £35 a month for the 1mb line

pipex have had a few connection problems lately saying it is BT.

i bought the same modem for £41 and signed up to www.virgin.net

the charges r £24.99 per month and at the minute the 'one-off activation fee' is only £39.99 as part of virgins special offer. u can also cancel at anytime which instead of the 12 month contract that freeserve & pipex do.

Here is a couple of calculations for adsl (512 Kbps). This is based on 12 months.
Virgin : £339.87 (excludes modem)
Tiscali : £324.00 (excludes modem)
Freeserve : £444.87 (includes modem)
Pipex : £340.03 (excludes modem)

May be of some help.

And plus.net want £347.18 including modem and activation.
That's made up of;
12 months @ £20.99 = £251.88
Activation fee including ADSL PCI modem £95.30
Works out at. £347.18 for a year

That's quite a good price.

don't forget with adsl you may need one microfilter for each phone so that adds to the cost

If you're after a reasonably priced adsl modem & micro-filter, local computer fairs are your best bet.
