TRIED TDK, MEMOREX, FUJI,IMITATION,MAXELL,JENSEN,MEMOREX BLACK BOTTEMS, ALL BURN AT 1X WITH THESE DIFFERENT PROGRAMS, NERO, RECORDNOW,CLONE CD, PRIMO, CDRWIN, AND NOTHIN FREAKIN WORKS. PLEASE, I NEED SOME HELP. I GOT THE GAMES FROM A GUY. THEY ARE ON TDK CDR'S. NO MATTER I CAN'T GET THE XBOX TO READ. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATE IT. THANKS MUCH

How are you copying it, you said you were a newbie. If you follow Cal_G's tutorial exactly, and burn to DVD-R. It will work.

Stupid question, but you have a DVD-burner right?

Only thing I can say is, is it chipped correctly? Have you tested any working backups on it to make sure the modding is correct?

You say they are on TDK CD-R, most XBox's will RARELY read CD-R. Best thing to test is, get a WORKING DVD-R from someone and test your chip.

swap ur drive out for a pc-dvd-rom drive, it is very easy to do!... pioneer 106, or a liteon seem to be the ones to go with...i got a pioneer and it works luverly

Well, have you tried making a burn yourself? Get an original - FTP the files over to the PC HD and burn using Cal_G's tutorial to burn. It will work on a decent DVD-R media and burn on 1x.

If that doesn't work, it's the chip.

Like I said, not all XBox is going to play the CD-R backup, some with Philips drive would be prob not.

1. Get a working DVD-R backup, either buy one or burn one yourself.
2. This would check to see if your mod works.

Also, do you have Evo-X dashboard installed? If you can run unassigned code like the dash or any prog/games of the XBox HD, then the chip is working.

If not, send me your XBox before you trash it, lol :P

stop shouting fella!..we hear u!... does ur xbox boot to the menu after u installed the chip?..if so, it's working m8, so calm urself down!..u say u 'no dvdr works' then say u got '5 xbox games discs on cdr' ?!.. have u tried swithing ur xbox off with a backup in the drive then switching it back on?....pah!, fUk all this messing about!..just swap out ur drive for a pc dvdrom drive!

well, I bet the CD-R games won't boot because you have a thompson DVD drive in your XBox. Eject the dvd drive. If the "hole" in the drive tray looks like a perfect "U". It won't boot Cd-rs.

EvoX is just a replacement dashboard that lets you do some cool menus to launch games of the HD etc.

I still say obtain a good copy of a backup game and try it.

or like I said several times. BURN A WORKING COPY OF A GAME! FOLLOW CAL_G's tutorial.

It will work, assuming your chip is working correctly.

jaymus, yeah i got the original drive still in the box, with the pioneer sat on top....u need a spitter cable to rob power from the xbox hdd for ur pc dvdr rom drive, then just take the ide cable out the original drive and bang it into the replacement...easy as that!

dre, as a last option try this m8 cos i'm sure it'll solve ur problem

Well, my proposed solution still remains, obtain or burn a verified booting copy, so you can test your mod.

ok, i burned the five disk that i got on 7 different media brands at 1x with 5 different programs, nothin works

Well, did u burn on Cd-rw? those games you got? Well if NOTHING works, sounds like your chip is #@%

jaymus, i was thinking the same thing, but surely his box wouldn't boot thru the bios if the chip was shot?..so it's more likely a bad install (for enigmah, check wires 15 and 21 atleast!) or just a very fussy drive!

(rare as rocking horse sh!t!, is an xbox that reads cdr m8)..hmmm...have u got a dvdr burner? or cdr-rw burner??, do wot jaymus says, burn anything, an emu, or one of the utilities, or sommat??.. to a cdrw and try that

i spent over 200 dollars on media. went to best buy and bought all the dvd brands and cd-rw brands they had. where can i get something to burn to do that. thanks guys for all ur help. and how would i burn it using what program. ill try that

dre, sorry for taking the piss earlier..(just my way m8, no offence meant)..200 greenbacks is no joke to anyone!, so tell me u got a dvdr burner, please! ..course u have, else u wouldn't be buying dvdr media, would u?...that's a silly question?...so get record now max here: http://stompinc.4t.com/ and either copy ur cdr's to dvdrw/r via disc to disc copy, or for plain files follow cal_g's tut in the faq

Damn, 200 bucks on media. Did u get someone to install the engimah? For $70 you could of had a professionally installed chip that works :P

Anyhow, burn a working copy of something on DVD-R!!

If not, send me a blank DVD-R, I'll send ya a working DVD-R backup. I'll send to ya first if u want. But that would take awhile, you probably get frustrated and die before that. lol j/k

Anyhow, I think what you need to do is get a working copy of something to test that the mod is functioning like it's suppose to - Booting backups

all i want to do is find out if the chip works. If there is a way I can test the chip out that would be so cool. Atleast then if I know the chip works then it could be media. If only I had an image to burn to a cd, then i can try that. I know the 5disk i got on cdr's which were xbox backups, when i go to my computer and look to see if there are files on the disk it says Drive D not accessable also says the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
Sorry guys I'm sure yawll been here before, no need to be hostile with me. Sorry to bother u, I guess I'm on my own on this one. I've tried dvd-r and dvd+r and dvd+rw and dvd-rw none have worked. Brands used were TDK. Memorex, Imitation,maxell,digital research,jensen,fujifilm, and pyne. No results.

send me $5 for shipping and i'll send you out a dvd-r xbox game. i will test it first to make sure it loads on my xbox. then if it doesn't work for you then its probably a bad chip install. alot of people say the same dvd-rs don't work on all xboxs, but i have sold many games to different people using the same dvd-rs and they all worked. i have not had 1 complaint of not loading.

did that copy of halo work for you? i tested it on 3 different xbox consoles before i sent it.

i find it easy to just use dvd-r you noticed i put dvd - not + it makes a difference weather its - or + they are two different types anyway i would just use dvd-r to put the x-box games on if you use cd-r media it can be hit or miss when it comes to it working or not besides blank DVD-R media is geting cheap

Why dont u send to a xbox modder that way they can fix the problem and tell you whats wrong with it. u dont want to go gray b4 your time.

nope freakit but this time it booted wrong media type and it usually goes to cant recognize disk. I came to the conclusion that it is the chip. I just ordered the one wire chip whatever the newest one is and getting that 23 wire garbage and getting the one wire. Hope that solves all my problems and r505 I tried dvd-r and it didnt work and it was a memorex dvd-r but to all thanks for ur inputs I really appreciated it. See ya around the board.
