I have used both the above two apps for my 3 PC LAN, with ADSL www connection. The problem I have is that two of the PC's are on the 3rd Floor of the building and the ADSL Connected PC is in the Comms room in the basement, I want to use any of the two PC's on the 3rd Floor but I now cannot as the eval licence for both applications has expired, can anyone think of an application similar to the above to that I can use for the time being

Mods, I know that this is supposed to be in C Sec but I need a sharpish response and most people view this forum first - can you let it roll for a couple of hours?:D

Have you tried Smoothwall or Ipcop (Smoothwall witout the adds)
All you need is and old pc to act as your gateway machine with a network card, a cdrom drive (usb if you have a usb modem) and of course your modem.
After you install smoothwall you can remove the cdrom, floppy, keyboard and monitor as all the admin is done via a web browser.
I have bin using Ipcop for around 6 months and Smoothwall for about 12 months before that on a old pentium 166 compaq machine that was bought at a computer fair for £25 and have had no problems.

more info can be found at www.ipcop.org and www.smoothwall.org

Hope that helps.
