Get Forte Agent, it has a facility to search within for a title/word within a specific NG.
For example, if you wanted Shrek, go to the alt. binries.vcd NG, go to Edit, Global Search, and put in Shrek, if it has been posted, it will show up.

You could try News Rover (http://www.newsrover.com) it supposed to have an excelent search engine.
Haven't tried it myself though.
